Indian Women's League a Stepping stone for India Rush SC

Rome was not built in a day and neither will any nation be, nor football in India. The recipe for success is out there, but the tough part which is the implementation that is vital. The transition in the Indian football is heartening but the uncertainty of the shape of Indian football to come does not make the implementation any easier. We at India Rush SC would rather go through this phase and provide the heave Indian Football needs than have no progress at all.

“I can confidently say that Indian Women’s football has lots of potentials” is what IRSC Head Coach Claude Bolton has to say, resonating the clubs view especially after going through a journey from being Maharashtra Champion to being the Mumbai’s first and Maharashtra’s only team to play in the IWL final round in a single season.

In the current season, India Rush SC women’s team will end up playing more matches than I-League and ISL teams, playing in all 22 competitive IWL matches. “Though it cost us a fortune the investment was well worth it and it cannot be measured by the number of wins or loses, but the strong and dedicated platform established by India Rush for the girls to hone their skills and display their talent.” Says the upbeat IRSC Hon. CEO Dennis Fernandes while thanking the well-wishers and team sponsor HP, Aarvee Computer, GK Web and Hydration partner Enerzal.

The IWL final round grew from a 6 team affair to 7 teams this season, largely due to the efforts of four Clubs like India Rush SC and a hardworking team at AIFF. Except for one game of IGASE, most of the games have been a close encounter between all the teams, which speaks highly of the quality of the players even though most of the teams were formed in a short period. Especially considering the difficulties due to the high altitude, sub 15-degree temperature, incessant rains, hailstone and strong winds.

To India Rush SC credit goes the fastest goal in 2mins by Shamiksha, the longest goal by supremely talented Dalima Chibber and Player of the match to our Goal Keeper Aditi Chauhan for the breathtaking saves. IRSC Assistant Coach Kimberly Miranda says that “Playing in the final round and the All India Qualifier, has been an eye-opener and has provided us with the exposure and experience to build the foundation and a pathway for the Women’s team.”
