The joy on the many faces of our RUSH family lit up the night sky at Cooperage when our Women’s Team lifted the WIFA Women’s Championship trophy in October’17. It takes an enormous effort to be able to bring together any group and accomplish such a goal. Yet, it is significant that the pride that underscored our objective was steeped in something far greater than a piece of metal hardware. Our true desire to be a beacon for all those who want to be a part of football was realized by creating an environment for women, and by extension young girls, to also enjoy and strive in this game.
It is important to remember that there is nothing inherent in a sport that creates sportsmanship, teamwork, or commitment in individuals. These attributes can only be instilled by those we entrust with creating the environment for our women and men, our young girls and boys. We are proud that our Women’s Pro-team moved on to represent INDIA RUSH at the India Women’s League (IWL) in Kolhapur and stood up to all those who were surprised to find us there. While the wins, losses, and draws added valuable experience for the future of our women’s football program on the field, we are most proud that we are realizing our goal of bringing all to football.
Our women will go on to become entrepreneurs, teachers, mothers, aunts, doctors, and so many other beacons in their own right. In that sense, through our time with them, in some small way, we are using this beautiful game as a tool for social development.
This is India Rush SC's commitment to the development of Women's football and this is just the beginning. In 2018 we are confident of putting in place a robust program for aspiring players.
