It is no secret that football fosters friendship, for that matter all sports do. Almost all of the players have been together for past few years, training, playing, and enjoying moments of togetherness. While the bonding between the players can be seen on the field, enjoying every bit of the 90 minutes, but it’s on full display mode, during their celebration.
One such moment came by during the long wait for the awards ceremony to start after winning the 3rd place match. Few minutes of discussion and the players were all ready to have some fun. The mood for celebration was in the air, celebrating not just the win, but being on the field, being together with friends, and many such reasons.
It was no surprise when Laura our 41-year player received the Best Player of the Tournament award. Her commitment to the game is beyond reckoning, defying her age and the injury she sustained during the league.
While some of the players will continue playing football to become pro players, others may move on donning other roles as per priorities of life. But one thing is for sure, the moments of togetherness on and off the field will always be etched in their lives, reminiscing them as they grow up and firmly stay with football forever.
With the podium finish, the team has now qualified for the Maharashtra round, battling with 6 teams for the Maharashtra Champions crown. The top two teams from the state round will qualify for the IWL national round, to be held in Odisha later this month. It is a tough ask for making it through the grueling schedule made more difficult because of the COVID 19 travel restrictions, but we know our players, they will not only soak in the experience but will make many more enjoyable moments together.
