Exploring Sports Entrepreneurship

“You play football with your head, and your legs are there to help you” Johan Cruyff.

Football is sprinkled with creative brilliance by the likes of Lionel “La Pulga” Messi the master of tight spaces, Roberto “Bullet man” Carlos the King of Free kicks or Dider Drogba the master of Death, all of them used creativity to overcome the challenges and shaped the future of football.

Sports bring the best in each of us, especially being at its creative best in challenging circumstances. While we are confronted with limited physical mobility but there is access to explore the whole world right from our homes. Young Entrepreneur Nadera Merchant shares some interesting gems of advice for all those inclined towards making a mark in the business world.

This is great time to research especially about Sport entrepreneurship. It is a rapidly emerging new research field that combines sport management with entrepreneurship and innovation research. There are many E learning portals offering plethora of courses to choose for deeper understanding on, structure, economics and strategies for entrepreneurship in sports.

The best form of developing yourself is to read books written by successful entrepreneurs, my favorite being Robert Kiyosaki. He touches the base in his book Rich Dad Poor Dad, about assets and liabilities and importance of financial literacy.

The basic skills required to learn about the finance, Operations, Marketing can be research, but sports person have a distinct advantage with some of the key life skills like Resilience, Agility in decision, Art of Negotiating, Problem Solving, Relationship Building, Balanced Lifestyle that can't be taught, but are developed while sports training. These abilities certainly give the edge in overcoming the many challenges to be faced.

The core books that build oneself mentally, and emotionally are self help books such as "You can heal your life" by Louise Hay and "How to win friends and influence people" by Dale Carnegie, being my priority books.

Learn a new skillet, pick up a hobby. Engage yourself in a fun activity. Live your passion. Get creative! What best time than now.

To sum it all, it’s time to use your creativity for the best utilization of the time at hand, connect with yourself, your family and friends, learn to discern information, right use of technology, get energized and gear up for the future challenges. "The more we understand each other, the better our world will be". Stay safe. Stay healthy!
