India Rush SC Women's team with Fr. Magi, Principal St. Andrews School
The 5v5 Rink Knock out tournament organized by Bandra Gymkhana saw 14 women’s team clash for the title. The league featured most of the prominent teams from Mumbai as well as few newcomers.
25th Feb 2019: India Rush SC Vs Sea View FC
India Rush SC blanked out Sea View in the opening match by 5 goals to nil. Alisha scored a hatrick while Rachel scored a brace.
1st March 2019: India Rush SC Vs Bodyline FC
The next match was against another heavyweight Bodyline FC. Alisha with her goal scoring form scored two goals to outwit Bodyline by 2:1.
2nd March 2019: India Rush SC Vs Joga Invincible
The Semifinal encounter was a tricky one with Joga Invincible a newcomer having made it this far. The Girl’s in Blue though were in a no nonsense mood, a solitary goal by Christina and Alisha blanked out Joga Invisibles by 2:0.
3rd March 2019: India Rush SC Vs IC United
Playing in the finals get’s the best of the team and so it was for India Rush SC as they came from behind to defeat I.C. United 3-2 via the tie-breaker and clinch the Women’s crown in the Bandra Gymkhana Annual Rink Football Tournament 2019.
For the first time in the tournament the home team was trailing at the halftime. The Rush girls showed more urgency in the second half and struck an equalizer at the death through Rachel D’Costa to level scores and force the tie-breaker.
Our girls successfully converted two goals through Rachel and Linnet Pereira, while Alisha converted the goal in sudden death to claim the title. Having scored in all matches, Alisha Tavares of India Rush SC was deservedly declared as the Player of the tournament.
It was double the joy for India Rush SC team to receive the trophy through the hands of Fr. Magi, Principal of St. Andrew’s High School, Bandra and the champion of sports development.
