The AIFF Youth league is the perfect platform for the players and the coaches to hone and test their skills. In a change of format, this season the Maharashtra Zone team had to go through a pre-qualifier with four out of the five-team qualifying to the Zonal round.
Taking advantage of the format, IRSC coach George rotated the players giving most the players match time, which is the essence of Youth Development league. The strategy paid off as India Rush SC managed to qualify for the Zonal round with a match to spare. Academy player Gyan Saldhana made his debut in the last match on his Birthday, a perfect gift planned by Coach George.
The Zonal round for India Rush SC will start on 16th Oct and will wind up on 11th Dec’18. Six teams will be battling it out over 10 matches in a home and away format. “Though an expensive proposition but a must for youth development, as it provides a professional and competitive environment,” say U18 Coach George as he prepares for the next round.
